Renovation & Addition
This existing home located in the West Hills of North Austin was in need of a few sensitive alterations. We redefined the main entry by opening it with an expansive canopy, scaled to the prominent axis of approach, and reclaiming a landscaped entry walk from the paved driveway. Rain chains flank the new threshold and natural materials blend the transition from the walkway, through the entry court, and into the home at the West facade. At the South façade, a personal office and children’s activity room were added on the ground floor. On the second floor, a second personal office and expanded master closet were added off of the master bedroom. The extension of the house also envelopes an existing fireplace, updating the hearth and surround in a clean, contemporary manner. The additional spaces seamlessly embrace the generous tree canopy populating the entire site.
